Waimea Canyon
One of the talked about scenic places to visit on the island is the Waimea Canyon. It is often referred to as, “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific”. Although it is not quite as big as the Grand Canyon, it is 14 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,600 feet deep.
The Waimea Canyon is part of the Waimea Canyon State Park. In the park there is a scenic drive, viewpoint of Niʻihau Island, lookouts of the canyon, picnic area wild land and hiking trails into and out of the canyon. Keep an eye out for an wild pigs or goats that sometimes roam on the mountainside.
